Revelers Enjoy India’s Booming Wine Industry
Persian traders are believed to have brought winemaking to India as early as 2,500 years ago. Today, production is centered in the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra, where the Nashik Valley is home to India’s largest vintner, Sula Vineyards.
Sula, set over 1500 acres produces hundreds of thousands of cases annually and has attracted visitors by offering experiences synonymous with the Napa Valley in California. It features India’s first tasting-room, restaurants, an eco-resort and hosts the annual SulaFest music festival.
